Sliced Bread Staff Application Fall 2018

Please fill out the application form below if you are interested in becoming a member of our staff. All you have to do is fill it out here online, and SUBMIT BY 10:00 PM ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 20th.

In general, we’re expecting around three to four sentences in answer to each question(and we hope you won’t need two to three sentences to tell us your name and email address).

Expectations

1. Generally we meet on Thursdays at 8:00 pm for an hour and a half. Staff members are expected to attend every meeting, because our system only works if the staff members participate (we vote on pieces and require a wide range of perspectives during discussions). Attendance is taken at each meeting. More than two unexcused absences during the quarter are grounds for dismissal.

2. Staff members will be given the opportunity to contribute artistic and written work to the magazine and are highly encouraged to submit. Staff members will also be expected to assist with our major annual events. Finally, there are some nitty-gritty tasks like posting flyers and laying out the magazine that we will expect staff to assist with.

3. For fall, winter, and spring quarters, staff members will receive a packet of submitted materials prior to the meeting, and they will be expected to show up to the meeting having read the materials and given them some thought. We anticipate this will add about one or two hours to your weekly commitment. Reading the packet is generally enjoyable, and the meetings are more productive when everyone has read and considered all of the submissions.  If you are excused from a meeting, you are still expected to e-mail the editors your votes for that week's packet.
