Summer Art & Writing Contest Rules

Sliced Bread is celebrating summer with a fancy contest! Writers and artists are heartily encouraged to submit their work for consideration in one of four categories: poetry, short stories, photography, and visual art. The winner in each category will receive a $25 gift card to the Seminary Co-Op Bookstore.

Please direct submissions to submit@slicedbreadmag.com. If you submit a short story, format the subject of your email as follows: "Last Name, Short Story Contest, Name of Piece."

For a poem: "Last Name, Poetry Contest, Name of Piece."

For a photograph: "Last Name, Photography Contest, Name of Piece."

For visual art: "Last Name, Art Contest, Name of Piece."

Sliced Bread continues to accept regular submissions during the summer, so if the subject line does not follow this format, we will not review the attached piece as an entry for the contest.

We request that short stories be no more than eight pages double-spaced in Times New Roman font, with 1-inch margins. You may submit up to two pieces in each category — up to eight total. We encourage all writers and artists to send any additional work as regular submissions to the magazine. If your piece is not chosen as a winner, it will still be reviewed for the magazine.

The deadline for the contest is Friday, October 4. We look forward to reviewing your work!
